Job Description:

The Technical Services and Product Development Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of HGS’ agronomic trial program, publishing technical bulletins on product application and performance, providing customers with technical training and support, and supporting the sales teams with customers. They will provide strategic counsel to the Executive Leadership Team, especially in matters relating to industry trends and product strategy. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in soil health and fertility (including fertilizer, micronutrients, and bio stimulants), be skilled in leadership and communication, and be comfortable making strategic decisions.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead development and execution of the HGS agronomic trial program, including collaboration with universities, third parties, channel partners, and growers to establish and track testing protocols in a cost-effective manner
  • Publish technical bulletins on product application and performance
  • Develop a robust awareness and education program for channel partners and growers — including demo and side-by-side trials and grower education
  • Support sales team with any relevant technical questions, and serve as technical expert to interface with customers (domestic and international) and agronomists to drive sales
  • Provide customers with post-sales technical training, support, and troubleshooting
  • Develop and lead agronomical training for HGS commercial team
  • Develop and maintain sharp value proposition materials for the company overall and for each product line
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have deep agriculture biostimulant knowledge and experience, be able to think both strategically and tactically, demonstrate focus and flexibility, and be excited about joining a company with strong growth aspirations.

  • Graduate degree (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in agriculture technical sales support
  • Deep understanding of soil health and nutrition portfolios (including crop and regional opportunities)
  • Strong network and relationships with channel and agronomy partners
  • International experience a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with and exposure to strategic business decision-making
  • Ability to translate technical insights into actionable recommendations
  • Effective leader with well-honed written, verbal, and creative communication skills
  • Ability to travel to support sales team and manage seasonal trial work

Job Description: 

Reporting to the Vice President of US Sales and Marketing, the Key Account Manager will lead the management of selected large national and regional accounts. The role will serve as the end-to-end strategic and tactical point-person for key accounts, including coordinating product development activities, driving sales through the company in an HGS brand &/or their proprietary brands, working closely with regional and local field managers and sales reps to create local demand and pull through, and managing monthly, quarterly and annual sales objectives. The Key Account Manager will also coordinate closely with the HGS team and resources to service key accounts, including executive leadership, technical sales and service, and marketing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture input sales – preferably with major accounts – and sales management experience, be skilled in leadership and communication, and be comfortable contributing to tactical and strategic planning. 



  • Develop key account strategies and tactics in collaboration with executive leadership 
  • Coordinate the HGS team and resources to service the account 
  • Work closely with technical service / product development team to bring a customer voice to company innovation 
  • Set goals with each key account and the tactics to achieve them 
  • Build strong relationships throughout the account – from the headshed to location salespeople and management where necessary 
  • Be creative and proactive to generate demand throughout the partnership 
  • Negotiate commercial agreements when private label &/or product development opportunities exist 
  • Interface with operations and supply chain to ensure customer satisfaction 
  • Collaborate with management to build pricing, distribution, and portfolio strategy 
  • Collaborate in the development of the North American marketing plan, including contributing ideas for promotional activities & incentive programs 

Experience and Skills: 

The successful candidate will have extensive agriculture input sales knowledge and experience, be able to think both strategically and tactically, demonstrate focus and flexibility, and be excited about joining a company with growth aspirations. 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5+ years of experience in agriculture input sales (preferably as a key account manager) 
  • Experience leading key accounts and/or regional sales teams  
  • Strong negotiation and planning skills 
  • Analytical skills to build hypotheses and develop strategic and tactical action plans 
  • Well-honed written and verbal communication skills 
  • Team player with significant independent drive to grow an emerging agriculture input business
